Can anybody play this video clip ?

Hello to all: Would somebody try to go to this site: pgatour.com/video/player and click on "Play" for any of the golf videos. On my 6.0 nothing happens.
Regards,
serge.

2 things about that video and site

First, it uses javascript to call up the streaming video and the page is not coded correctly for Linux. It's an IE only page with layout view only for the better browsers.

The code to switch to full-screen is applied to the entire video window instead of only the full screen link at the bottom of the window.

Contact the site maintainers and give them a rev up about making their site comply with the Internet Consortium guidelines and to stop thinking the world uses that crappy windows.

Thanks m_pav for your

Thanks m_pav for your explanation. I did send an EMAIL to the subject "NON LINUX FRIENDLY" site. But if they do not change their site, do you think that Windows would be the only option to view their videos?

serge.

For the time being - yes, but not necessarily

You could install vmware or qemu and install a virtual windows, or you may even try the now free Eudora.

Firefox is now at the 12-13% of all internet usage, so web coders will be sitting up and taking notice. When FF gets to 20%, coders will be forced to make their sites more compatible.

Thanks Mike. Really

Thanks Mike. Really appreciate your efforts to help me !!! OK, based on your reply, I will start "mucking" around with "things", and see if I get anywhere with this problem. I'll report in this thread if anything comes out of it.

Best regards, and thanks again,
serge.

That's untrue, I use CrossXOver office by code weavers. It installs windows programs onto Linux. I use IE 6 everytime I want to access an IE only webpage.

You can purchase a version of MEPIS that comes with CrossXOver office or you can buy it directly from CODE WEAVERS.

If you click on that CODE WEAVERS link, they have demos for you to try it before you buy it.

I disagree with the "untrue" claim

When FF hit the 8% usage late last year, I spoke to the web designers of some local financial institutions that had to change the code on their sites to enable FF usage. Now with usage hitting the teens, more coders are looking our way. The coders cater for macs at the 3-5% mark, so FF at the 13% mark is a much bigger incentive, much less the 20% mark when it happens, and I hope it happens quickly.

As an example, Banks will not allow incompatible web code to be the cause of lost business. Those that love FF tend to hate IE, and will generally do anything to avoid using it.

I make sure all my IT providers know that if their site is not FF or linux friendly, I simply will not use their online ordering, so they lose sales and if they ask, I freely tell them how much I am spending at FF friendly sites when they call. It does get the message through and I'm not the only one doing this.

Codeweavers is okish to use, but it costs alot more than free and my experience has been to use it for a while and slowly, but surely, it fades away into the no longer required because I have changed my habits. I have it too, but it's been over 18 months since I stopped using it.
