That's a tutorial for how to install it.

Just to be painfully clear

Just to be painfully clear about it, because somebody's likely to mention it later, if we don't now.

THE ABOVE LINK IS TO THE BETA VERSION OF THE FLASH PLAYER 9
IT IS PRE-RELEASE CODE, THEREFORE, IT MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU

With that said and out of the way. I've had no problems whatsoever with either of the Flash 9 Standalone or Plugin downloads.

YMMV

I installed MEPIS a month ago and have been running it ever since. Something which has never been clear to me is whether MEPIS is a community distro or a commercial distro. I did pay for a one year subscription which makes me think it is a commercial distro. OTOH it seemed at the time that the commercial version was sold through TaFusion.

Now comes the above quoted post directing readers to the "official commercial version forum"

I clicked on the link and was redirected to:
http://www.tapioneer.com/forums/index.php

I found there NO reference to MEPIS at all, but a distribution called Pioneer Linux. I did some checking on Pioneer Linux and found it on Distrowatch and clicked on the link. Again I could find no link or reference to MEPIS. They mention Debian and Kubuntu/Ubuntu but NEVER MEPIS, or Simply MEPIS. at least the old TaFusison site said "powered by MEPIS" but not at the TaFusion-Poineer and TaPioneer sites.

Instead, they offer several versions of Pioneer, including a 64 bit version. As far as I know there is no 64 bit version of MEPIS at this time. So this would indeed appear to be a completely separate and distinct distro from MEPIS. Is that true?!? If so is MEPIS defunct or about to be abandoned?!?!? If not, why are users of the MEPIS forum directed to the Pioneer website and forum?

I am currently downloading a demo version of Pioneer to see if: 1, I like it; and 2, to see if I find any sign of or reference to MEPIS on the Pioneer demo disk.

This is all very unsettling to a new user of MEPIS!

MEPIS vs Pioneer

It may sound unsettling, but it is not so bad...

The post you referred too is a little old. The poster that had the reference to the TaFusion knowledgebase in his sig was requested to change it. TaFusion had an agreement with MEPIS to sell MEPIS as a Value Added Product. That agreement no longer exists, so now TaFusion offer a new product, called Pioneer. Pioneer is Kubuntu based and has nothing to do with MEPIS. Consequently, MEPIS is not a commercial distro.

On a side note: even when TaFusion was still selling MEPIS, the one and only official MEPIS forum was (and still is)this one.

Newbie or not Newbie, there's always a question

When you change the sig it

When you change the sig it does not change the sig on all previous posts. So it's not my fault that nobody changed it for I am not able to edit old posts. Not only that but it was not brought to light to me until months after I had actually made it. So really it shouldn't have been made out that it was all my fault since I didn't know the difference b/t SM and Tech. Nobody corrected me until there was fire breathing down my neck.

Sam, Please Stop

Sam, carlops made mention in the previous post about "The post you referred too is a little old." He said that we had requested that you change your sig. And yes, I know you changed it. How did you come to the conclusion that we were somehow laying "fault" and "blame" on you? We did not expect you to "change the sig on all previous posts.". Carlops was simply providing context for the age of the previous post, and the current lack of connection between Mepis and TAFusion.

Let it go Sam.
