I like the one on the left...the standard flare. Rotate the image +90 degrees, though.

No pricing? What is the proposed pricing of each unit?

Are you actually into the market on this, or still in prototyping-alpha-beta?

When you refer to OGG formats, are you including Theora?

This is merely an assertion. A court challenge--provided it is pursued fully (unlike the Lindows case), would probably prevail. Best if we don't give credence to trademark squatters.

'microsoft windows' is a valid trademark.
'windows' by itself is not.
'windoze' is actually more descriptive.

Yes Theora compression will be supported on the Flare, not the Flare mini... My favorite function is the cards, can store and file with them. Boss lady said next trip to Europe to load a bunch of cards for her.

I was told to place that on the page by our legal guy here. I fixed it to say Microsoft Windows. Yeah Windoze is more like it lol...

Pricing for the Flare is going to be between 149 and 169 (depending if they release a 1 or 2 gig Mini-SD card with it).

We are hoping to release in two weeks. Still testing and playing I guess. The box design is in for approval - a pretty simple design actually...

Absolutely right! I changed it and enlarged Flare!

Warren and I just want to make sure that MEPIS community knows that this product offering from TaFusion is in no way affiliated with MEPIS. MEPIS will not receive any money from the sale of this product and we will not be able to support this product in any way.

Update by Warren 2006-10-31: I have discussed this product with Diane Ursini at Technalign/TaFusion and she asked that I clarify the situation. The announcement was premature. The details of the product offering and the arrangement with MEPIS are still subject to change. At this time, I don't know if MEPIS will be bundled with the player, or not.

If it is bundled, Diane has proposed that the regular version of SimplyMEPIS be included, not the TaFusion branded CD. So this would be similar to MEPIS allowing a CD to be bundled with a book. At the very least, there may be some new users for MEPIS, and hopefully some of those users would become paying supporters of MEPIS.

Diane says she's proposing to do it this way because she wants to see the MEPIS community grow. This would be unlike previous TaFusion products that have been co-branded and is her way of trying to do something for MEPIS.

FYI, Technalign is a company that, among other things, distributes co-branded MEPIS as a boxed product bundled with other products and with formal support available, and thereby provides a service to US computer retailers who want a boxed products for their store shelves and to bundle with computers.
