New Mandriva 2007 on DVD - superb!

I got a copy of Linux User magazine here in the UK with a coverdisc DVD of the new Mandriva 2007. I put it on my Dell Dimension 2400 and it performs superbly right out of the box. Much as I like Mepis, I will now be a Mandriva fan - it's seriously good, especially for beginners. Give it a test drive - see what you think. The only extras I needed to add (off the DVD - EASY) were all the media/movie players that were offered. I also put on the rpm version of libdvdcss which installed instantly and perfectly - it plays my Hollywood DVDs perfectly, and the sound quality is nice.
Mandriva is a Windoze-killer! M$ beware

Distros to suit your PC...

Sorry to hear Mandriva 2007 didn't work for you - it seems that different distros work well/badly on different machines, and that happiness is achieved by patiently trying everything until your PC finds its perfect partner...

Mandriva 2007

Hi
I have tried Mandriva 2007 free edition. It is the worst distro ever released by Mandriva so far. Let me highlight the bugs and problems.
1. Mouse configuration is buggy. USB mouse is not being detected. Never had this problem in any other distro. You have to configure USB mouse as a serial , inorder to make it work
2. Bluetooth is buggy. hcid.conf file is half baked. I had to do lot of tinkering to make it work. Finally uninstalled the bluetooth files and reinstaled them from suse.
3. Adding programs and deleting programs from mandrake centre is also buggy. You can install or uninstall single program. To install more you ave to close the madrake centre and try again.
4. XGL is also buggy. Transparency never worked for me.
Lot of home work need to be done before you release a stable version. Mandriva failed in that aspect.
