Dan's Guardian Script

Hello;
I'm a new LINUX and MEPIS user. I really like MEPIS, but I can't figure out how to get Dan's Guardian working properly in MEPIS. For UBUNTU, I downloaded a script from http://www.whatwouldjesusdownload.com/christianubuntu/2006/09/web-content-filtering-only.html
and I'm set up and ready to go. Is there a script for MEPIS or a how-to (I couldn't find one on a search)? I've loaded it from synaptic, but it doesn't do anything and I can't figure out how to configure it. Thanks in advance.

Brian

I have done this

I have downloaded and installed the convert_me script that you mentioned. It works fine on Mepis but you have to uninstall the Guarddog firewall before it works. I can't remember if I had Gnome installed at that time or not. There might be some Gnome dependencies that the script doesn't catch by itself.

will this work?

So if I uninstall Guarddog and maybe install gnome it will work? Cool--when I get up the courage to set up a dual-boot on my new computer I'll give it a shot (MEPIS is the only distro that works with the video card on my XPS400). I finally got Ubuntu Edgy set up and working right on the kids box. Thanks for the info.

GKSudo

I just tried installing this script on a fresh Mepis install. The filtering will work, but you will not be able to edit anything. You need to have GKSudo installed in order for this to work. I'm not sure if you can install this separately but I installed Gnome and while it was still finishing up some of the components I was able to edit the configuration files and allow certain websites.
