Hi All, in the dmesg file concerning my tvcard, it tells me it is unable to to get the make of my card due to manufacturer not using an eprom, and it says to use insmod card=, I have tried verious things to no avail. Can anyone tell me the correct commands to use. Ernie

Nope, I can't

because from across the world I can't open your box and read what it says on the card. What brand / type do you think it is?
could you
copy that bit from dmesg here
and
lspci -v

and tell me what version of mepis you are using - i need a kernel number.

Oops

Sorry drlizau, not enough info.
I am using Mepis 6
First up the approppriate lspci section.

[17179588.096000] saa7134: Congratulations! Your TV card vendor saved a few
[17179588.096000] saa7134: cents for a eeprom, thus your pci board has no
[17179588.096000] saa7134: subsystem ID and I can't identify it automatically
[17179588.096000] saa7134:

[17179588.096000] saa7134: I feel better now. Ok, here are the good news:
[17179588.096000] saa7134: You can use the card= insmod option to specify
[17179588.096000] saa7134: which board do you have. The list:

[17179588.096000] saa7134: card=59 -> Kworld/Tevion V-Stream Xpert TV PVR7134

[17179588.096000] saa7134: card=63 -> Kworld Xpert TV PVR7134

[17179588.096000] saa7134: card=6 -> Tevion MD 9717

[17179588.096000] saa7134: card=12 -> Medion 7134 16be:0003

The card was purchased from ALdi store, on the box its called a Tevion, which is there brand name, but a lot of them are made by Medion. So anyone of the four is a possibility. Ernie

erniehatt, i have two of them

i have two of them. model DVBT-220RF
the linux drivers are much better than the windows ones.

it's card 88, and not in that version of mepis.
you can get it in a 2.6.17 or later kernel
or add the driver using mercurial

it's not exactly easy.
you need to install mercurial, and linux-source.
linux-source has to be untarred and and symlinked to /usr/src/linux.

you then change into /usr/src/linux and run the mercurial command to get new patches from video4linux
http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/How_to_build_from_mercurial
i know that one time i built the drivers I had troubel and needed to head off to irc for advice, but the next time it built without difficulty.

Thanks for feedback

Hi drlizau, thanks for the feedback, I have downloaded the file, But I may have to give it a miss, at leased for a while anyhow, until my confidence level raises some. I have just gone through a period of install and reinstal to last me for some time to come, I don't think I could stand having to resetup all over again. Ill go without the TV for now, maybe I will look for a card that is more compatable. Thanks for your time, I am sure it will help someone down the track, I will certainly keep it on file. Ernie

drlizau,Isnt there a vesa

drlizau,

Isnt there a vesa or framebuffer solution which ernihatt could try?

Later:

Oops, didn't note the date. Probably doesn't matter by now.
