HP Compaq nx6125 doesn't work

SimplyMEPIS 6.0 doesn't work good on HP Compaq nx6125. It slows down the CPU which works on 800 MHz, instead of 1800 MHz, just like Ubuntu does.

I'm not quite a Linux expert (and that's actually why I'm using Mepis and not SlackWare i.e.), so I don't know what's exactly the problem, so I can't fix it neither, at least not alone. But I think the connection of Mepis and Ubuntu is not quite a good idea, at least not for my computer - Mepis took in heritage from Ubuntu its biggest problem reguarding it - slowing down AMD Semprons. And it sucks...

Upgrade BIOS

Upgrade BIOS from HP web site

Try boot cheat codes
noapic nolapic
You add these on the line that probably ends in vga=791
on the GRUB boot screen (cursor will be there)

If your model supports 64-bit
you may have improvement in Mepis 64 when it's available
