Keyboard and Mouse stopped working

I rebooted my PC and SimplyMepis 6.0 no longer recognises my keyboard and mouse.
Both are USB and are working OK as I have rebooted into Windows and am using them
to write this Eye-wink

I think I will boot again, unplug them and plug them back in - I am still going
post this as I don't think it will work...

How can I fix this?

and when they don't work; could you type lsusb at a command prompt and see what is recognised on the usb bus?

that's only possible if you have a networked computer, and you have told ssh to start on boot.
if you've only got one computer, you can't do anything except what you tried.

I've only got the one at the moment.

Its fine if I turn my printer on AFTER the pc has booted
but not the other way round!!

Is this worth reporting as a bug?

exactly what sort of mouse and keyboard
exactly what sort of printer
at a konsole type lsusb -v
and record the output
what else can you tell us about the motherboard in the machine?

SimplyMepis 6.0 (Kernel 2.6.15)
PC is a standard Fujitsu-Siemans Scaleo P (AMD64 X2)
