[Solved] Onboard NIC went kablooie! Can't figure out how to configure new one!

As the headline states, my (built-in) onboard Network card bought the farm the other day. I was able to remove it from WINDOWS 98 and install a new 3Com, but now MEPIS doesn't recognize the new guy.
How do I do this?

...thanks to something I read in another thread (although it didn't relate to this problem per se).
By going into the BIOS and disabling the onboard LAN, MEPIS auto-detected the new one, configured it and I am up and running again!
Hope this information is of use to someone else!
