I am interested in writing a c++ program that can read coordinates from a GPS and displays data on the screen about current position relative to stationary objects, progress on journey, etc. My GPS came with Streets and Trips. How do I find info on how to write a software link to this device, so I can use it on my linux pc? I would want to know the pinouts on the connector and how to get data off the GPS...

Have you gone out to Google and looked around? I just did a search for "linux gps" (without the quotes) and it returns LOTS of things. This is the second link that I found:

Have you contacted the hardware manufacturer, which would be the logical place to start. I know that Warren hasn't been manufacturing GPS devices lately.
