Problems with Ciberfunk.org and Automatix
I am new to MEPIS and Linux in general. All of my linux experience has been in the Ubuntu distros and variants.
I think my main problem is Ciberfunk.org. After I install MEPIS, I update it (or try to) everything downloads fine except the last couple of items from ciberfunk. Download speed drops off to nothing and sets there.
This seems to effect the update process as I get error messages in the terminal window about things not being downloaded or are missing.
MEPIS installs fine with no problems and everything works as it should except the updating thing I just mentioned.
Now, the point of updating is so I can install Automatix. This is one of the reasons I came to MEPIS. (The other is it's based right here in West Virginia.) I see a reference to MEPIS on the www.getautomatix.com website, but I can't find anything about automatix at www.mepis.org. Am I looking in the wrong places for my answers?
I have a copy of Point & Click Linux that I refer to; but, it doesn't work in this instance.
I downloaded the v6.0 ISO twice and burned three different cd's with the same results.
My computer is a victory of spare parts over common sense. It runs great and is very linux friendly.
Specs are as follows: AMD 64 +3000 cpu, 1 gb RAM (Kingston), 2 each 80 gb WD harddrive (PATA), NX 6600 (nvidia) graphics card and a Diamondmax sound card.
I think I'll enjoy MEPIS once I get it the way I want it. I just can't get past the updating issues. Any help is appreciated.

Modify Your Repository
Hi Robert. Welcome to Mepis.
The cyberfunk repository is no more due to legal issues in the United States. Before you do your first update, start up synaptic. You will be prompted for root's password. Enter it, and then choose the Settings menu, and then Repositories. Scroll down to where cyberfunk is and uncheck the box to disable the repository. Click OK to make the changes permanent.
Anytime that you modify your repositories (and pretty much any time you want to add anything new to your system) press the Reload button in synaptic. Then you should be able to bring things up-to-date.
I cannot add anything about automatix. Search the forum for that word because I know others have played with it, but I was not thrilled with the results. I can add this one bit of advice: do not load everything, but rather, load only one or two things at a time. Otherwise, you run a great risk of messing everything up
Let me know how it goes.
