Howto force dhclient to get IP during boot

Currently I get my IP address after I log into KDE. In fact, it's a couple of minutes after I log in. I can always run dhclient as root as soon as I log in, to get my IP address right away.

I would like to know how to get my IP address during boot. Previous distros that I've used would attempt to get the IP address during bootup but they all used dhcpcd. How do I do this with dhclient?

That option is checked and I

That option is checked and I do see a line during boot stating that the network interface has been started, but still no IP address during boot.

order of startup

I think that the answer here could relate to the order of startup - for some reason your network card is started after something else important. I don't recall what the two items are, but the posts about this are months old and probably under 'wireless'.
