Dlink DWL-G650+ prevents boot
Posts: 3
Hi,
System: Toshiba Satellite Pro 4320 600Mhz, 320Mb Ram
All was well under 3.1.1-1, tried Mepis 6 CD All systems OK, so performed upgrade, now card prevents laptop from booting. Currently using Netgear 802.11b card as a work-around. Odd, as it all worked using the CD!
Boot stops at 20% when setting up LVM volume groups with a message (Error?) of [46.067945] or [43.985234]
All help gratefully received,

Driver name?
Thanks Yamal,
I see what you mean, but how do I find the driver name? No drivers explicitly loaded. It just "worked" under 3.3.1-1 and I have no idea of which driver to blacklist. Any ideas of how to find the driver name?
TIA

blacklist ndiswrapper
-- I think that will allow your boot to continue, but I'm not sure how you'll set up the wireless card -- first you need to determine the revision #, and then find out how someone has got this working without ndiswrapper
After you get revision # from card, docs, or
lspci -vv
search http://www.ubuntuforums.org for a native driver for DWL-G650+ revision xx

i have same prob. on my dell with same card
i talked on this forum but no-one replied except to say
'burn a new cd'
i am now on mepis 6 rc 3 and sometimes it stops as above
and sometimes it goes past it.
have to power-off and power-on upto 3 times before it
works - sometimes it works straight away!
works fine after that 650+ to a dlink 6024+ w/l router.
Prob the same thing as

Prob the same thing as happens with broadcom.
Blacklist the driver by editing /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist with:
blacklist DRIVERNAME
