Ipod ???

I tried to add songs to an ipod with amarok. First I pluged in the ipod. Then when it connected, I started amarok. I clicked on the media device tab, then connect. I got an error that said:
" Media Device: No mounted iPod found "
The ipod was indeed mounted. On the desktop was an icon showing an ipod, it even said ipod on it. However it was mounted as /media/sbd. Amarok seems to be looking for an ipod to be mounte as such:
" /media/ipod *
I tried mounting th ipod, right clicking the ipod, and choosing open with amarok. Doing this I was able to see the songs on the ipod as a playlist, and even play them. I was able to add songs to the playlist but I was unable to copy them or save them to the ipod. I must be missing something really simple here. Any ideas would be appreciated.
By the way, I converted several friends to linux recently. they are threatening to go back to windows because they need itunes for their ipods. Help me out here, don't let that happen!!1
