Kmail very slow

Kmail is very slow fetching messages from my mail server. I've never had this problem with other Linux systems. On the other hand Thunderbird is very fast, but I like Kmail, any ideas?

spamassassin

spamassassin is the reason.
it's going through your mail as it is downloaded.

Is "Use pipelining for faster mail download" enabled?

My occupation?
Well, computer geek-stuff, mostly. I could tell you all about it; but, then I would have to delete you.

You need to add configure Kmail to the list:
Settings --> Configure Kmail --> Accounts.....

A word of caution: not every provider supports this pipelining. It may then lead to corrupting your incoming email. Check it out BEFORE you enable this, right at the top of the same window, and also read the warning there.

Ok figured it out

Spam spamassassin does slow it down somewhat, but the problem was Klam antivirus. I never had any antivirus program on my old linux system, so when I set this up I checked it out and set it to scan my mail. After adding a new user, I setup Kmail without configuring Klam to scan the mail. It was fast again! I don't really need it anyway.

Thanks for your input.
