mplayer/plugin & codecs needed

I thought i better mention a few things. I could only get the CD to boot to a graphical login by using the (2nd) VESA option. Then after installing this latest 64 bit version to my hard disk. I had problems getting the x server to run with the nvidia legacy driver. It kept giving my monitor an out of range message. Eventually i booted the CD again & manually editited the etc/xorg.conf to set the monitor refresh rates. after this it was perfect. I never had this problem with any previous versions of mepis

I also notice that this version has real player & the flash plugins for firefox but it doesn't have mplayer with the win32 codecs & the mplayer firefox plugin.

My previous vesions of mepis had all these installed as standard. maybe they are missing due to this being a beta version. They are absolutely essential for using mepis on the web.

can i cant find them in synaptic. Can someone tell me what i need to do to install them in this 64 bit version.

OK thanks for that. I will

OK thanks for that. I will remove it and install the 6.0.4 32bit beta1 to try instead. does this version have all the codecs etc?

I don't know if they come

I don't know if they come with the cd or not, but you can install them from the repos.

Maybe I should clarify what I meant above. w32codecs are only in 32 bit format at the moment and as far as I know they cannot be used for 64 bit processors.

64bit Mepis :)

Hi;
I have to say it freaking rocks thus far just need smaller screen size Sad
1600x1200 is kinda hard on my eys lol.
I'm use to 1024x768.
New board nvidia onboard lan works right off the bat.
I'd say winner.
I got to try after install this is just from livecd .
But I'm happy thus far.

64bit Mepis

Hi;
Also ;Steel Sound usb sound card(version 1) works again.
Sound on boot from Livecd just like Mepis 3.3.1 .
Heck even kubuntu 6.10,etc didn't work with it.
Now just to find room on my disk lol.

win32 codecs

You can try this. It worked for me except that I can't run WMV9 files, either.
And I"m getting too tired to hunt right now.
