can't get dvd playback

Ive installed libdvdcss2 & the totem movie player with synaptic but it still won't play dvd's. I can open the dvd & enter the video_ts folder but cannot get any media player to play the bup files. totem says it cannot identify the type of stream & kmplayer just does nothing.
I used to use totem on mepis 6 to play dvd's so can you tell me what is wrong with the mepis 6.04?
just installed Kaffeine player & it gives the error "No plugin found to handle this resource (dvd:/)"
then if i click on the details button it gives the following info:-

I think I may have found part of the problem. My PC has a cd and a dvd/rw drive. My dvd/rw drive is being mounted as /dev/hdc which if i am correct is a hard drive or partition & not a removeable device like a dvd drive. Please can someone help me solv this...
I was wrong, it has nothing to do with the problem. I have found i can get dvd playback in the VLC media player but still not in totem or Kaffeine. I never had this problem in mepis 6. please someone help me to resolve it.

Try opening KMPlayer & clicking Source >DVD > open DVD . Works for me .

I got it playing DVD's in the kaffeine player but I had to remove my dvd rom drive & just use my DVD/rw drive to play the movie. There must have been some conflict between the 2 drives in this version of mepis cos they both were fine co-existing in mepis 6.
