Dev Update: New Beta 2 Available for 32 bit SimplyMEPIS

Morgantown, WV, January 3, 2006 -- The second Beta release of SimplyMEPIS-32 6.0-4 is available for download from the usual sites. This is an important update for testers who encountered display problems in Beta 1.
Beta 2 fixes a monitor detection bug that was introduced in Beta 1, and also improves monitor and display card detection based on feedback from MEPIS testers. Other updates since Beta 1 can be installed from the MEPIS dev pool. These include tweaks, bug fixes, and improvements to Firefox, KDE, and the MEPIS utilities.
MEPIS needs more testers with MacTel hardware. At this time, testers are only being asked to boot the MEPIS CD and verify basic hardware operation. In a few days, the SimplyMEPIS Assistant for OSX will be available. At that time, testers will be asked to install SimplyMEPIS in a dual boot configuration with OSX. Interested users should contact .
