I just downloaded the iso, checksummed it, all ok, burnt a cd and booted it on my Toshiba Tecra M30 P4M 1.86 Laptop with Nvidia GeForceGo 6200 64Mb dedicated vram.

The screen resolution was good, sharp and correctly set at 1024 x 768, but only a few minutes into the session, the entire desktop was lost. It appeared the resolution went way out of sync with reality, I had basically straight vertical lines where anything was meant to be. I could see the imprint of the top of the kicker panel, and the mouse would be a series of vertical lines reaching from the top of the screen to the bottom.

Pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1 through to F6 was no good, F7 showed one desktop as described, F8 showed another as described, both unusable.

My CPU fan cranked up to full speed and remained there, and I could not kill X until I switched to a terminal screen, pressed the Alt + PrntScn + r to regain control of my keyboard, then switching back to the F7 and killing X, then power down and restart.

Next boot, all was well. It appears everything else appears to be working, albeit very slowly due to Toshibas built in IDE to SATA converter for the optical drive, no different to all earlier versions of SM, with a simple work-around for an installed system.

I tried a hard disk install, which went fine, but grub would not install to the root partition, though it did install to the mbr properly. One thing I did find which is a very nice feature was my wireless settings were copied from the live cd session to my installed system and I had a fully functional network as soon as the system started.
