Just wanted to let you know, I have been using MEPIS for about six weeks now, it is by far the best linux distro I have encountered. I was running PCLinuxos for a while but had problems with my printer and less than stable packages and I had run ubuntu but couldn't get automatix to work (no multimedia, no good for me). So far have not encountered a single problem with MEPIS. In fact I just deleted my windows partition yesterday its that good.
Fed up with fixing spyware and viruses on my moms computer I installed MEPIS over windows for her, she was a little reluctant at first, but after about half an hour of instruction she picked it up. When I talked to her the other day to see how she was going, she complained at me for not installing linux on her computer sooner! She has now ordered me to install it on dads p.c. So you be rest assured that the user interface of MEPIS 6.0 is user friendly enough that my older parents prefer it to windows!
Oh and I've been running the latest beta 2 for the past few days. Only encountered two bugs 1/Live cd choose screen resolution that was out of range for my monitor (no big deal I just override from grub menu) and 2/KlamAV was not updating (oddly seems to be working now). My only complaint is the reduced size of the taskbar (again easily fixed).
