Mephis 6.0.4 Troubles with WIFI on compaq Presario V2000.

My Wifi card shows up, lights up, but will not connect on this machine.

Broadcom, not sure the model. I could not locate the program ispci. Tried to do a ls -l * | grep ispci. That could not find it. Tried to find it as root. What am I doing wrong.

When I boot up the wifi card is found as ETH1. The mac address show's true under ifconfig. It can be started and shows "can't connect".

Wifi settings are on EEID Darlin, Hex, 7777777777, and in restricted mode. (Assuming restricted is the same as shared under windows). Also unsecured networks are also in range. I can't connect to any of them.

When I blacklist the wifi card it no longer starts up.

The ATI driver, along with everthing else works fantastic with the laptop at install. No problems there.
A side from the Wifi not connecting, it was a flawless install.

Reading the other post, looks like alot of people have the same problem and the hold hint to a solution is forcing what ever adapter shows up to the wifi name. Is this possable?

try this
