K7 Dual Core Kernel causing repeating keys
Posts: 3
I have just installed the 2.6.15-27-k7 kernel as described on the wiki. However, I have sinced noticed that the keyboard now stutters and adds repeating keys. It doesn't do it all the time and appears worse when changing keys i.e. if I press the "g" slowly 7 times, I'll get 7 g's. But if I type a word like "hello" I may get hheello. It sometimes gets really out of hand and i'll get a full line of a single character.
It has only happened since installing the K7 kernel, and I have experienced the same problem when installing the smp kernel for PClinuxos.
My setup is as follows
MSi K9NGM nvidia 6100 onboard, with Athlon 3800x2 processor and 1 Gig DDr2.
Any suggestions
Try your cmos settings

You may have a setting in cmos that has been around for years called keyboard repeat. If you have and it's turned on, check the settings like the delay before the keyboard starts repeating. Best setting is half a second or greater, or turn it off altogether.
Also check the manufacturers website for a bios update, if one is available, does it address keyboard repeat issues?
Incidentally, when I am running from a live CD, I have found an issue where upon copying text to the clipboard with the Ctrl + C key combination, the cursor starts repeating the last character endlessly until I log out of the live session and log back in again.
I have seen this quite a number of times, but I have never watched to see if it happens only on certain hardware types. I do have access to many systems and hardware types, including the latest of the latest and so far, Mepis has worked on all but 2 in the last year.
