Download Speed

Hi
I thought would like to try the new Mepis beta, and also to support Mepis, so I signed up for the Months trial.
My problem is the download speed will not go above 30Kb/s and is often a lot less, now I can download programs and up-dates for my present Mepis 6.1 install, though synaptic at over 500Kb/s, so I know there is nothing wrong with my broadband conection.
I know $17.97 is not a lot, and it is a good cause but I do feel just a littel ripped off.
O, Well! I suppose I will have to use the puplic mirrors.

Band width shaping may be the culprit

We have the same issues in NZ, but thankfully, for the first time ever, I got to download the latest beta in just over 1 hour at approx 240kbps because I started it at 1am local time instead of trying to download in the evenings or on the weekends.
The issue here is bandwidth shaping, where ISP,s restrict certain activities such as those that cause the most congestion during peak traffic times, and may I suggest your issue may be related to something similar.

Hi
I have just tried again, (morning, and afternoon in the UK) to download the latest testing Mepis 6.4 rc3, I am still getting very slow download speeds ( a maximum of 25kbp/s)
So I tried installing and then up-dateing the copy of Mepis 6.4 rs1 that I downloaded a couple of weeks ago from a pulic mirror.
It worked with no trouble and the up-date speeds were over 600kbp/s, (and if I could work how to post snapshots, I would prove it).
I don't mined the money, ( as I said it's not a lot) so much as the feeling I have been conned.
Still disgrunteled, Jim
Why, it's not a Mepis issue?

Why? I've already demonstrated that I'm getting over 500KB/Second download speeds. If you want even more screen prints, I'll be glad to try another download and capture some more for you. Just tell me what you're looking for.
I'm in Savannah, GA and I have no relationship to MEPIS (I'm only a user).
The problem is with your ISP, or something in between you and the mepis ftp server. Don't feel "conned" if your download speed is not a Mepis problem (and it's not, otherwise my download speeds wouldn't be this good).
Here's the uncropped screen print from when I tried it earlier after seeing your post (the crop of the download in my last post to this forum thread came from this screen).

The problem is not with the Mepis server. You need to be complaining to your ISP, not knocking Mepis in a public forum for something that's not their fault.

I still do not see how I can

I do not see how, I can download Mepis up-dates a 600kb/s and have something wrong with my ISP.
I will not bother to post again.
Don't bet on it

Don't bet on that (nothing wrong with your connection).
After seeing your post, I decided to try a download. I'm averaging well over 500KB/second, with bursts to over 700KB/second.
The problem is likely with your ISP (or a router somewhere between you and the mepis server).
I normally use the public mirrors. But, now that I see how fast the mepis server is, I may start using it instead.
