Hibernate and Suspend in 6.**

I'm wondering, as I listen/read all this talk about the latest release of Mepis, if it will support hibernate and suspend in a more efficient way? If any one is familiar with "Majorcedar," you know I have posted several times concerning this issuse. I have come a long way. I reinstalled using reiser and make a couple of other fixes. However, I still cannot use suspend to RAM nor can I adjust the brightness of the screen. With this issue, I get the message that this function is not supported. In any event, will the latest version address these issues. I have not downloaded/installed the beta versions so I have no idea what it be like for my m45-s169 Toshiba laptop. I thought I'd put more of "cents" in. In spite of it all, I still Mepis a hundred-fold better than Windows, or course I still its remains on my machine in another partitioned dungeon. Thanks.

in short, there will

in short, there will probably be no change. The kernel has been optimized with a couple of newer drivers for intel centrino chips, but it will most likely not improve hibernating.

Please keep in mind that lots of hardware has never been designed with Linux in mind, and the procedures to sleep and wake up devices is quite complex. Do not expect miracles.

Newbie or not Newbie, there's always a question
