acer monitors

I'm running an acer monitor al 1916 w when I boot from cd running mepis 6.04 beta3 or beta4 I cannot get normal boot or vmware to display until the login screen comes up.Is anybody else having same problem. It says input not supported.Is there a problem I'm missing.I've changed boot menu on grub by pressing f3>vga and changed 791 to normal now I can see what is happening during boot.Thanks John
