USB Stick Installation
Posts: 21
I read with interest Warren's announcement that beta 6.0-4 can be installed on a USB stick. This certainly gives trials more realistic speed than a demo CD. I found not find a "How To" but decided to give it a try tonight using the Mepis System Assistant.
I followed online prompts using a new empty 1GB USB stick. I checked statements to format the stick and add the system. I received a window asking to insert the Demo CD also stating this might take a few minutes to transfer.
Quickly I noticed some formatting progress and then another small window saying the system was copied. No way was close to a GB of information transferred in one or two seconds.
Sure enough I cannot boot with the stick so I did something wrong. Is there an online procedure to do this? Has anyone made this work? Can you please give me ideas to try?
Thanks, Stew

It almost makes me want to go out and buy a new USB stick. Over here in the UK, you cant get a 4GB USB stick for about £24. Not sure how much it is in other countries. But at that price, it gives you Mepis on a stick plus other things as well.

I finally got the transfer to USB memory stick to work with the live CD. I tested this on my hardware with both the 64 and 32 bit discs.
Something aborts this process with the installed system. Thanks to all who offered support.

Stick has to be unmounted, you can mount after you install and check if the files are there.
