Mepis 3.4.3 - pppoe no auto connect

Hello!
I changed from 6.0 to 3.4.3 due to performance reasons and my old hardware was grateful for it, but new, smaller issues arised (i hope). the network related one is:
1. pppoe does not auto connect on start up as promised.
i have to run pppoeconf every time i log in...6.0 on the same machine did not have this problem.
i found some threads about this, but nothing worked out. I read that this is a bug? cannot be in Mepis 
. anyways how to smash this bug?

What are you using to connect to the net modem or dsl? I dont think its really a bug considering its meant to work on as many macines as possible. You just cant make all hardware work all the time on all configurations without some setup being required by user.
