How to contact/email other forum users?

How does one go about contacting forum users directly?
Other forums that I use have what is called a 'whim' direct messaging facility but I don't see anything like that here.

Apart from its other benefits it would reduce having to plough through endless irrelevant ( except to them ) "side chatter" between one particular small core of posters.
Something that could easily be done offline directly as it is of no benefit to anyone except themselves.

Unless obsessed with Mepis most of us usually just want to get on with life & Mepis is a an excellent tool to assist there. We don't want to spend all of our life just "changing the oil" or "adjusting the tappets of the engine" to use an analogy.
