Mepis 3.4 Security Question
Posts: 486
I have a pc used as a server that sits in the corner of my living room. It has Mepis 3.4 final installed. I have read where users such as drlizau only update using security updates. What sources.list do you use?
Here is mine:
cat sources.list
# See sources.list(5) for more information, especially
# This file should be edited through synaptic
# New sources should be added only in the section at the end of this file!
# Primary
# deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free
# deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ sid main contrib non-free
# Sources
# deb-src ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free
# deb-src ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ sid main contrib non-free
# MEPIS apt pool - specific packages available on-line
# deb http://apt.mepis.org/3.4/ etch main
# deb http://apt.mepis.org/3.4/ sid main
# mplayer
# deb http://debian-multimedia.org/ etch main
# deb http://debian-multimedia.org/ sid main
# Security upgrades for Etch
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
Should I have more sources to update the server apps? (Apache2, MySQL, Mail, etc)?
What sources.list do you use?

Hello Travis , im no security expert but for normal updates on 3.4.3 i use sarge with no problems. You might change the first line in sources to sarge instead of etch and see whats available and uncomment that line of course. Any time i try to use others i get errors so i think the one will do it. Good luck!
