I must go back to Mepis 6.0...

Posts: 97

Hi all,

Thank you for the new Mepis 6.0-4!

I am not very lucky with some details in Mepis 6.0-4 32 bits. Here are some of my remarks (from the user's point of view only):

1. wireless: the interface of the Mepis assistant is absolutely not helpful compared to the 'old' one in mepis 6.0; it seems quiet impossible to know which device will be used to manage the wifi connection (no indication in the panel and nothing in the interface of the Mepis assistant); I use to use eth1 in mepis 6.0, and I did the same with the new mepis, choosing eth1 for my wirless connection; after rebooting 3 or 4 times, the device was always eth0...

2. reboot and reboot...: I don't like to reboot my system every time when I change a thing in the mepis system configuration; it seems that I have to reboot a lot with the new mepis, which remember me windoz

3. root: I did an install of the new mepis on my laptop, choosing an appropriate root password in order for me to log in as root with this personal password; it seems that the new mepis don't remember the password, and I have to write 'root' as a password in order to log in as root;

4. using mepis as user: it seems that the user I have chosen as I installed the new mepis is not in the sudoers' group, so that you don't have the possibility after log in as user to sudo...; here too, I find this quiet annoying, because it forces me to log in as root to change this in the user's properties.

Thanks for your good job!
yours
zu

Did you download the package

Did you download the package updates to the new Mepis Network Assistant? It is much more useful than the one on the CD out of the box.
