big screen at boot

I have already gone through changing xorg.conf to reflect an 1152x864 res, but when I reboot, the bounds of the display are larger than my monitor screen forcing me to put my mouse at the edge of the screen to move to that corner of the display. If I go into the desktop settings and select a smaller size and then say 'keep previous' then it fixes it, but I don't want to have to mess with it every time.

Thanks
Tyke

You may have missed something in xorg

When you made the changes, did you change the resolutions under both "Subsection Display" headings?

The first section has a list of different color depths and display sizes, the one at the bottom is the one that is used as your default resolution.

I have the same problem

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same problem and no matter what i do in xorg it dsoesn't ssem to make any difference. The one that has a list of different color depths also seems to be the bottom one.

I am completely new in Linux and any help would be much appreciated.
