Mepis 6.04 PERFECTION!

Yes, Finally a distro that works. I started using Mepis 6 final about a month ago. Great Job, but as with other distros it would only give me 1024 X 768 60 mhz, on my home machine. A Sceptre 20" LCD, Nvidia 6200 video card. Athlon 1800xp, MSI mother bord 333 mhz front side buss, 1 gig of ram. My office machine is exactly the same, except the moniter, and processor Athlon 2800xp, and an older 19" flat panel. On this machine I get 1280 X 1024 76 mhz.

With the release of 6.04 bets, and the ability to choose my resolution before booting from the disk I get 1280 X 1024 76 mhz after installation on my home machine. Exactly what I want!

I've downloaded and tested Kubuntu 6.06, 6.10 edgy, Ubuntu 6.10, none will run for me at this resolution even though they offer the same ability to choose the resolution from the boot disk. I've also tried Ubuntu 7.04 good luck this will not run at any res. it begins to boot, and crashes when the desktop begins to load. The same with Mintlinux.

My point is whatever they are doing with these distros please don't do it to a perfectly running OS like Mepis.

I've tried many other distros, Zandros, Mandriva, Dream Linux etc. Not one can compare to Mepis! Not only the resolution issue that I have, but an OS that just plain works.

Please keep up the great work with Mepis.
