Downloaded this version about 2 weeks ago and everything ran great. The wi-fi connection was automatic. When I updated last night from Synaptic the wi-fi connection went bye bye. Has this happened to anyone else? I went back to 6.0.4 B4 and did not update. I tried this twice to make sure.

THis is pretty common. All you need to do is reset your wireless parameters in MEPIS Network Assistant and make sure yoir card is started.
