live"DVD" screen size
Hi all!
I've recently (Wednesday) downloaded the DVD livecd from this site.
I have to move to this computer, put a hard drive and use my dvd reader on this system to install the software. Runs fine.
When I moved it to the other machine (one w/o DVD reader) and booted, my screen goes blank just before offering the signin/login screen. I suspect my screen size if my problem.
What I would like to do (might not be the correct thing) is reduce the screen size the hard drive is looking for (which is probabaly 1000X###) to 800 X 600 but need help on how to do that.
Does anyone have a workaround or viable suggestion they could share?
TIA,
Dave

On the grub line you get
On the grub line you get when booting, type
screen=800x600
at the end of the line before hitting enter.
Once booted, you can do a right click -> Configure Desktop on any empty portion of the desktop and adjust your screen settings.
I have also had cases where the refresh rate was set too high for my monitor even though the resolution was correct. In that case you can set those manually on the grub line as well. For example if your monitor only goes to 70hz refresh you would add:
xvsync=70
on the grub line.
Good Luck!
Does it have a different
Does it have a different video card?
Whoops! Broke it again....I'm enjoying this too much.
