Package Updates Available for SimplyMEPIS 32 and 64
Warren has been working hard to improve multimedia support for MEPIS users. The latest versions of Firefox, mplayer, and Mozilla mplayer plugin for 32 and 64-bit SimplyMEPIS 6.x and the latest version of the nsplugin wrapper for 64-bit SimplyMEPIS are now available in the MEPIS pools.
Also, Windows Streaming Video is now supported by default. This feature was not enabled in earlier builds because of concerns about reliability. It is sensitive to network congestion and should be used only if no other option is available.
These packages may work for people using Ubuntu Dapper. We invite those of you running Dapper to try out these packages and let us know if they work for you.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to have Firefox recognize the changes to the plugins, you will need to delete the pluginreg.dat file from .mozilla/firefox in your home directory.
