I like the new look on the front page for mepis.org/tracker, recent posts. Kudos to the site maintainers.

When I added this new topic,

When I added this new topic, something about earning one point was mentioned. What is this about?

I like the new theme for

I like the new theme for forum I'd like though the alternating colors to be more subdued... for example instead of that blue you could use the blue that's on the down arrow that appears on messages... that's more subtle...

I still don't get it

I still don't get it though.. what is the use? *scratches head* Can someone explain this to me in simply kiddie language?

I got when I get points, just not what use it is to have them/build them/lose them, etc.

Save Those Points Kids!

You can save up those points and when you have a WHOLE LOT OF THEM, you can take them to a local casino and tell them, "I have all of these points; can I use them to gamble with?" And they will look at you and laugh, and everyone will have a good laugh, and we will all be happy. Smiling

Actually, I have no idea. I think the points system has just been implemented, but no real utility currently exists. Perhaps at a future date it will allow something like "mod points" to "grade" or "rate" posts. But that's strictly a guess.

I thought you said each

I thought you said each point is worth 100 quatloos.

How Many Kaquarium Fish...

...can I buy with the points I build up?

On the original topic of the new look. I think it looks pretty good. Although last night I was in the midst of posting stuff. One moment the tracker had its old color scheme and layout, I answered a post or two, refreshed the tracker, BAM! new colors and fonts! I must admit, it looked a little "bright".

But I do like it.

Here's one to throw on the list-o-things-to-do. I have set my "Comment Viewing Options" so "90 comments per page" is selected. That way, I get the maximum number of comments. Usually, this is enough for most of the threads. Occasionally though, some of the threads get a bit long (Ideas for Warren's New Home?) and the number of threads extends beyond 90. Here's the issue. The Tracker shows say "95 replies" and "2 new". But when I go to the thread, because I have to go to the second page. The "new" items are no longer marked. On the typical one-page list of replies, all "new" items are marked "new". Have more than "90 comments per page" and no "new" Sad

A minor gripe I know. Probably a Drupal bug Sad

Eye Strain

Gosh guys, did you have to change it (colors, etc., no format)?

The new color scheme for things like a My Threads list is really hard on my eyes due to the color scheme changes.

Does anyone actually try to read this stuff on smaller monitors (i.e., 17 and 19 inch monitors at 1024x768, or even worse, a smaller 14 inch laptop monitor?

Edit -- something must have went wrong with my PC's graphics. When I rebooted, the colors were back to the way they were to begin with. Sorry for the griping. My mistake. LOL

17" a SMALLER monitor?

17" a SMALLER monitor? Shocked *pats Compaq V70 17" oldie* There there, he meant no offense.

I wonder what you are used to LOL

I am usually on my laptop

I am usually on my laptop with a 12 inch monitor at 1024x768. My old eyes do fine with this. Smiling

I don't know what happened

Sorry.. I don't know what happened. All of the colors were different for some reason. Some kind of "quirk" with my graphics card must have caused it and I though you guys had changed the site that way.

After a reboot, it's back to the way it was to begin with (although I didn't boot into the 6.5 beta configuration the next time). I'm probably going to reinstall 6.5 Beta 7 from scratch later. All of the Nvidia updates (including some of the Nvidia tools available). etc. that I've been doing may have messed it up.

so i set mine to 200 replies and once closed a thread and restarted it to a page 2
not just for my convenience, but to help save bandwidth all round.
perhaps we might do it more often
