Can't turn off internal speakers
Posts: 6
I'm using SM 6.5 b7, but I had this problem with older versions too. When I plug in a jack in the headphone there is a sound both in the internal speakers and in the headphone. And there is no point to listen on headphones when everybody around you can listen the same things like you. I want the internal speakers to stop working when external are plugged in.
My soundcard has Realtek chipset and I think the driver was ALC883.
Sorry for my bad english, but I hope you understood me.

No. It can't be a hardware problem, because the internal speakers turn off in MS XP. Maybe something with the drivers.
Where is that option? The "headphone sense"? I didn't see it.

I do not have such a option.
Don't you know another way of doing this? A kind of a workaround?

You can report the card to dev AT mepis.org
do a lspci for full info, that's a way to make sure in the future your sound card will be fully supported.
I at least don't know any workaround.

What is make and model?
Did you search for others having problems in linux with this model?
If you tell us details of your hardware (motherboard make and model, sound card, or laptop make and model) maybe we can help.

Here is some information about the soundcard. Yes, it is a laptop - MSI M670, and I'm trying to stop the built-in speakers, when a jack is plugged in. In Kmix there is no such an option "Headphone sense", and I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance

I wonder if that's not a hardware problem, usually when I plug in the headphones the speakers are disconnected automatically no matter what I run on my computer.
You can also check kmix options... There's a "headphone jack sense" maybe you need to enable that one.
