Forum consolidation

After using these forums for a while, it is becoming apparent that while some forum rooms are being effectively used, there are others which do not see enough use to be helpful. While it is nice to have fine granularity when addressing problems, it is also frustrating when there are only a few other posts in the forum over the past month. It brings the appearance (whether correct or not) that the forum is dead, and dissuades potential posters from even trying.

Perhaps it is time to merge some of the less used forums together. I suggest that any forum that does not get at least one post a week get consolidated with another, related forum, as much as it is practical. If future growth dictates that some forums get split up again, then great. Until then, it makes sense to pool what resources are available to maximize the value of the forum for its users today.

workload

This is happening - but it is a very slow job, so in fact in most of it you won't see any progress.
I consider that some things are best kept apart regardless of the number of recent posts. Trying to separate modem posts is important for people looking for information, whether the forum is active or not in the last month.
Actually, I have a job that's about 50 hours a week, other jobs as well which involve travel and a variety of family duties as well. So its my workload that dictates whether posts get moved or forums get merged. The last merges were of feedback posts for old versions.
The fine granularity in the hardware has reduced the number of identical questions we get. That means people found the information.
If you want to help out, then moving information to the wiki would be the most effective means.

confusion

Not sure about anyone else, but it is a little confusing to me as a new user where to go, here or Mepis Lovers.

Mepis Lovers has much more activity, but then, this is the official site, seems strange.

Perhaps the two can merge or link. I know on the few occasions (now being one) when Mepis Lovers is having problems, then I come here to post. Also, for checking other peoples posts and trying to help (very limited), I have to remember to come here and check the posts out.

This has been suggested

This has been suggested before, however what you have is this site where all the news comes out first and then over at Mepis-lovers they are the geekier users and have more of the super tech answers for the users. So they both serve a purpose and both get a lot of use. I visit both to keep up with all the Mepis related goodies.
