Is 915 configuration necessary on Mepis 6.5?

I have Intel 865G graphics.
800x600 depth 16, i810 driver.
Beryl works beautifully.
Boot-up message (not in DMESG) says go configure /etc/default/915resolution.
I can't see doing so makes any difference.
What should I be looking for, anyway?

If resolution is set OK,
If resolution is set OK, don't bother.
