Radeon Mobility X700 problems..

I had no problems installing MEPIS on my laptop as long as i used the vesa-driver. Thing is, i want all the eye-candy and 3d-effects. (I have a radeon mobility X700)
So i installed the fglrx-drivers, and the kernel-thingie and compiled it. I also changed in the Xorg.conf from vesa to fglrx and then rebooted. Still not working, so i open the mepis X window assistant, and under ati the vesa was still selected. I chose fglrx, and it told me to reboot. So i did, but after the reboot the x-window assistant tells me it's still set to vesa.
I accidentaly clicked apply, and then it told me i could not select vesa because the fglrx package was installed :-\

So... anyone got any ideas??

Quote:
The fglrx driver from ATI is not compatible with Beryl. Fortunately, the xorg radeon driver works well with Beryl.
