Vote on Mepis and Dell

Dell will close the survey on March 23. If we're supposed to be flooding Dell, we'd better get on it.

I don't follow the trends much, but I wonder if this survey is a public-relations safeguard for if Vista tanks. ???

The vista product launch has all the air-worthiness of the Millennium launch, now, doesn't it?

Mike Dell has painted himself into a corner; between microsoft, his competition (HP comes to mind) and the public. I really don't think Dell has the chops to endear himself to the consuming public while holding-off his competition--possibly gaining back some lost market share--and putting microsoft in their place.

When the answer is so obvious, it's somewhat amusing to see guys like Dell dance-around what they know is the best/right choice to make. It's a choice between being a fool or a hero; and, I'm sorry to say that all too many American execs choose the former over the latter.

IMHO, if he doesn't open up his entire product line to Linux, he's worse than a fool; because HP is waiting in the wings to cut him off at the knees; and, if they don't do it, somebody else will.

Well, computer geek-stuff, mostly. I could tell you all about it; but, then I would have to delete you.

To start it was a Microsoft/Novell/Dell idea and now that a lot of the linux communities are getting involved they are having to change the thinking just a tad and I love that idea. They thought if we give them the option of Vista or Suse the public will grab them up and they are finding out that a lot of the users want more than those options. This could end up being great for the linux community in general.
