Mepis 6.5 RC_3 Missing Trash Icon Desktop

Posts: 35

RC_2 & RC_3 Mepis 6.5 x86_64

Both installs failed to show a trash bin or recycle bin on desktop.
Installed on panel of trash bin OK.
As well the Mepis install failed to map my second hard drive and other OS boot.
Otherwise timed install as under 6 minutes.
also I am adding upon reboot the screen goes blank and doesnt reboot,this is same with
Ubuntu, exceptions OpenSUSE and Fedora and Sidux reboot correctly.
Otherwise I am at initial test stage.
Looks good, feels responsive.

Putting "Trash" back on desktop

Here are the instructions for how to get it back. Someone posted this over at mepislovers recently, but I foget who now. Apologies to the original poster. Eye-wink

Quote:
1)Go to ~/Desktop/
2)create file named trash.desktop
3)open this file in a text editor
4)put following code in it:

"[Desktop Entry]
Type=Link
URL=trash:/
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=trashcan_full
EmptyIcon=trashcan_empty
Name=Trash
Comment=Contains removed files
OnlyShowIn=KDE"

5)save and voila!

Remember, you can always access your trash from konqueror if you type trash:/ in the address bar
