Need help! Im trying to install mepis 6.0 on my Ibm t30. The installation goes up to 65% then freezes, I tried installing 5 times, and the same thing happens. I did everything im suppose too, logged in under root, there is no other OS on the hard drive, its a clean, im gonna just run Mepis on it. I downloaded the iso file and burned it to a cd, its working fine when I run it in demo mode, everything is ok, but just the installation. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be.
please help, im a newbie to linux
Thanks
Tony
Try another .ISO and check md5sum...

Hi,
Since there are people succeeding in installing ubuntu dapper 6.06 LTS on the T30 (see: http://www.wach-o-witz.de/linux_zeuch/ibm_t30_install/ubuntu_6.06.1/ubuntu_6.06.1.html I believe that it should be possible with Mepis 6.x too.
I do think that your CD may not be 100%. Did you check its md5sum before burning the .iso to CD ?
Try another download of the .ISO, check it with the stated md5sum. Then burn the .iso to CD at (very)low speed (like 4-8 speed) and try the install again.
Without some info on what goes wrong where (I wouldn't know what is being done at the 65% level...) I'm afraid there's no other option available.
