If I just plug-in the 6.5 repos. via Synaptic, and install all the upgrades, will this give me Mepis 6.5 the exact same as if I downloaded the 6.5 ISO and installed it?
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I'm transitioning from Microsquishy Winbloze.

I might install 6.0 on a test machine and then do an upgrade to 6.5 just to be able to write an how-to.... It might be done by tomorrow, depending on my free time.

Thanks for looking at that, I would like to upgrade too.
Another related question, if I updated some time ago to KDE 3.5.5 like said on that page http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.php/How_to_upgrade_to_KDE_3.5.5 , will I be able to upgrade all the others packages except kde ?
Thank you

Actually I tried to upgrade from 6.0 to 6.5 and got into some snags. Especially if you upgraded to KDE 3.5.5 I don't recommend doing an upgrade from the pool. The best way would probably be to do an install from CD preserving /home (however that would mean to go back to 3.5.3 and have to reinstall all the programs you installed since last CD install.

You're better off installing a clean 6.5

While it is not impossible, you will certainly meet a lot of BIG obstacles, as lots of things have been changed/updated since 6.0 was released.
My advice is to do a clean install of 6.5 after backing up any data that you want to keep from your current /home/user environment.
