Clock won't change time zones

My clock shows Los Angeles time zone. It will not change no matter what I select. The KDE control module shows the correct time when I open it up, however the task bar still shows LA. If I click on :Configure clock" the apply button is greyed out. It never offers me a root login.

Have You Installed?

Eppoh, have you INSTALLED Mepis onto your box? Some settings don't "take" until you have actually installed to your system. You need to RIGHT-CLICK on the clock. Also, for some KDE configurations, you need to click the Apply button and sometimes even log out before everything will "stick".

In /dev/null, no one can hear you type...

Yes. 6.5 beta 7 is

Yes. 6.5 beta 7 is installed. The apply button is greyed out. Plus it seems to have a mind of it's own. This time when I logged in it was set to Tokyo!^@%$!??

What's in your /etc/timezone

What's in your /etc/timezone file?

If LA, can you edit the file as root?

If nothing else, serving as a dire warning to others is not a bad thing to be.
