I'm seeing a lot of "I have a problem with 6.5 beta x|y|x and/or RC-1|2|3" posts, and I really want to head this off before it gets wildly out of hand.

People...6.5 went Final on the 3rd of this month, and the official announcement was posted on the morning of the 4th: http://www.mepis.org/node/13330

Beta and Release Candidate software is experimental software and, as such, is deprecated by the Final Release.

You, therefore, should:

  1. expect all Beta and/or RC code to have bugs
  2. have absolutely NO RELIANCE upon ANY Beta or RC installation, or the data and configuration settings stored therein
  3. understand that, as a Beta or RC, it was probably already fixed in the next successive release
  4. download and install SimplyMEPIS 6.5 Final
  5. not post issues with any 6.5 Beta or RC installation or LiveCD run
  6. not expect replies to posts involving 6.5 beta or RC releases
  7. realize that a clean install of 6.5 Final is the preferred, and probably most reliable, method for achieving a 6.5-F installation.

Let me be gently clear about this: Nobody supports beta or release candidate software--particularly after the applicable release has gone final.

It's no different here, and it is unreasonable to expect it to be different.

Deprecated means OBSOLETE

To clarify:

Yes, MEPIS 6.5 has been in FINAL for six months now (or more).
[So, don't continue to use or report problems against the 'betas' of MEPIS 6.5. They are deprecated (which means they are OBSOLETE).]
