What should I do to improve my graphics performance.

i have succeeded in getting my via unichrome card to run 3D graphics etc using openchrome drivers, but only under mepis 6.0
no luck with 6.5 so far.

VIA K8M890 is supported under openchrome, but with its own drivers.

I have ordered a Biostar video card that has a NVidia GF 6200 GPU on it. I do not know if unichrome and deltachrome share the same driver database

afaik that card has very poor linux support. VIA are not interested in Linux at all, so they do not cooperate in getting it to work. I think you can safely forget to ever run 3D with that card. I'm sorry.
If you want to keep running Linux and want to have good graphics, I would advise you to get a new graphic card. A simple nvidia card would probably be best.
