Gparted : "scanning takes forever"

Hi,

If you have experienced or are experiencing that Gparted (in 6.5) seems to freeze when scanning the partitions and if you do NOT have a floppy drive in your system, then please check that the floppy drive has been de-activated in the BIOS.
If it is still activated (probably a default setting) then this may cause the 'Gparted scanning freeze' condition.

and If I do have a flopppy?

that happened to me, and the system does have a floppy drive,
I looked at the processor use and nothing was happening so changed to qtparted which completed the scan easily.

Just as a matter of

Just as a matter of feedback, this has no bearing on what I ran into, as the machine has had the floppy disabled in BIOS and disconnected from the MoBo for years. Double-checking BIOS confirms that it's still listed as disabled.

Other machines that I've had issues with have floppy drives.
