Language Input (Skim/Scim etc)enabled

I've been browsing the Forum, looking for instructions on how to 'install' Language Input support. I know that on a Single CD this is not possible! I've just seen that there is a Mepis 6.5 DvD. I can't find any details on what's included in it but some Linux Distros of 3-4 CD's or a DvD include Language and localization installed. I thought I might make this suggestion for the growth of such a great user friendly Distro.

Also I saw a call for Translators... I'm a native English speaker working in Asia. Teaching English in fact. As English is the accepted international language for business, it still is not always very well known in some places. I still require the ability to be able to type in Asian languages and also my other half needs to type in the language to be able to communicate with her friends and family.

I also thing the ability for them to 'input' in their own language can aid much in the way of 'translating'.

I've been slowly learning linux. Sometimes I have more time than at other times. I feel I've learned a bit. I have a lot more to learn and look forward to it. On the otherhand, I think New Users will switch to a Distro that includes at the very least an ability for them to input in their own language if not translations. (Most people can recognize icons. I've had students that know nothing of computers really beyond point and click, and they can find thing by icons since my current Linux Desktop is in English.)

I've also been trying to further an interest in Linux here and I can only give them Mandriva as it has "SCIM" already configured and enabled. So they can input in their native language.

As Linux grows in the world... I thought this might be a suggestion for the future.

If anyone can point me to where i can get details of what's on the Mepis 6.5 DvD I'd appreciate it.

Last time I looked at Simply Mepis 6.0, I was unable to use it due to the lack of Language input... I hope this is something that can be fixed in the not so distant future...

I'm giving this improved Mepis 6.5 a try and I'm sure it will be great... however, I unfortunately require Asian Language input...

Also, I'm not sure but, do fonts really take up that 'much' room? On DvD or again multiple DvD sets, is it not possible to include multiple fonts for other languages? So websites, docs, etc can be viewed again without the 'end user' having to try to 'learn' how to add them. This is fine for some of us that wish to 'learn' how to do these things. For those average users, they will just again look elsewhere.

You can install scim and skim & associated packages in Synaptic
