Mount Point of removeable HD change

Hi all, I have an external hard disk.
I don't know why sometime mepis mount it in the directory /mnt and ather time in the directory /media.

I'm using mepis 6.5 final.

Does it matter if the hard disk is plugged in before I turn on the laptop or after?

Thanks.

Mount points

Hi, welcome to MEPIS.

If a hard drive is present at boot, it is mountable at /mnt/something via kwikdisk or manually from the konsole.

If it is plugged in after boot, it is treated the same as a USB key, it is mountable at /media/something via a desktop icon.

Mount points

Is it possible to change the mount point or a hard disk partition? I would like to have a second partition recognized as /home/share instead of /mnt/whatever.

I've tried to manually edit /etc/fstab but it looks like it gets overwritten at boot time.

Any suggestions? I'm using SM7 beta 2

You need to edit fstab and

You need to edit fstab and put the changes ABOVE the line that says 'Dynamic entries below'.
